Extensive deforestation, timber poaching and expansion of road and transmission lines in the name of development in Chure and Terai region has caused loss in resources and has resulted increase in impacts day by day. Destruction of natural resources has plug difficulty in human life and livelihood. Its impact is more in downstream area in comparison with upstream area. Conservation in lower region requires construction of physical infrastructures although it is not easy in terms of investment and environmentally not viable as well. Hence, NAFAN has been involving watershed management through participation of local people, respecting their involvement in conservation, and sustaining their livelihood through various awareness, capacity building, plantation, and integrated watershed management.
