National Forum for Advocacy Nepal: NAFAN

This loss of forest has significant impact on the degradation of the biodiversity, reduction in capacity of CO2 sink and availability of forest products to the inhabitant and the industrialist. Reducing carbon emissions and poverty reduction are the crucial challenge for development endeavors. Without active participation of the private sectors in the Forestry development activities, the country cannot address such challenges without getting significant support from government policy and program. From last three Fiscal years, private sector supply higher amount of forest product than community and national forest to address the total country demand of forest product, (DOF Report 2012). Beside this, to prevent the pressure on national forest, to meet the demand of forest product for domestic and industrial consumption and to achieve the country target to maintain 40% forest land also urge the need of private land to develop forest. Therefore, NAFAN has been initiating various initiatives in this arena.
