Major Programs Implemented
The following are the major achievements of the NAFAN in relation to the diversified programs that have been conducted.
Good governance
The NAFAN has conducted researches and other relevant activities concerning good governance including transparency, accountability and rule of laws. Series of studies apropos local level perspective on good governance in different districts of Nepal.
Equity and women empowerment
The NAFAN is continuously engaged in the field of women empowerment (political and social) through training and human resource development. The awareness cum capacity building trainings and interaction programs were conducted in major districts of Nepal with the following objectives:
- To expand women’s participation in organized activities and to promote good governance in the communities,
- To promote women’s expanded representation in leadership positions in various voluntary and elected organisations in the communities,
- To promote capacity building of women, IPs, Dalits, PWDs, and leaders in the communities,
- To strengthen advocacy capacity of local women and other marginalized on sustainable basis for equitable participation and benefit sharing in local development,
- To promote institutional mechanism at the local municipal and district levels for sustained capacity building of local women leaders.
Natural Resource Management
The NAFAN had also accomplished a capacity building project of Collaborative Forest Management and Community Frestry. It also had supported/facilitated to FECOFUN and ACOFUN and FUGs to develop their constitution and operational plan in different districts.
Promotion and protection of human rights
The Forum regularly undertakes the implementation of programs related to promotion and protection of human rights. It conducts trainings, organizes seminars and carries out empirical studies.
Social justice
The NAFAN had worked in partnership with different partner organizations in this theme with regards to the problems encountered in the NRM of justice. Especially in environmental justice, NAFAN has been organized series of talk program in National level.
